The objective of this method is to make a business decision repeatable without reducing it to a mechanical checklist. A multi-team organisation enabling AI around approved documents, roles and workflows needs a sequence that connects relevant evidence, professional judgement, appropriate permissions and a visible outcome. That is what the method below is designed to produce.

The defining principle#

Your strongest AI control is the decision the business still owns.

Permissions determine what a system may reach; authority determines what it may commit. An implementation method must expose that boundary in real tasks, test exceptions and make the escalation path operational before increasing autonomy.

The principle#

Identify consequential decisions in the process. The work begins with this choice because later activity only creates value when it is based on a credible foundation. The method is not about doing the maximum number of actions; it is about making the next commercially or operationally justified decision.

Who should use it#

Use this method when a multi-team organisation enabling ai around approved documents, roles and workflows and when the person responsible can name the objective, data boundaries and intended result. If the work affects a client, obtain the required authority, consent and scope agreement before collecting or changing information.

Method: the six-stage operating sequence

  1. Map the person, system and role making each decision

  2. State limits, exceptions and escalation owners

  3. Separate technical access from business mandate

  4. Test boundary cases with contradictory evidence

  5. Record approved exceptions and outcomes

Decision to resolve: What evidence would make this step complete and ready for the next commitment? Describe the source, affected stakeholder and cost of a wrong assumption. For this specific step, produce an inspectable record that shows how the team addressed record approved exceptions and outcomes rather than merely recording that the task was attempted.

Use a small practical test. Compare the preferred answer with at least one credible alternative, make uncertainty visible and decide in advance when to escalate. If a source is unverified or a permission is ambiguous, defer that part of the work without blocking unrelated legitimate progress. Preserve the reason for accepting or rejecting the next step.

Worked application#

Consider a multi-team organisation enabling ai around approved documents, roles and workflows. The team starts with a real business objective, separates existing evidence from assumptions, and follows the six stages in order. It does not treat a positive response or completed action as proof that the overall business outcome has occurred. The last stage produces an evidence-based review: what was accepted, what remains uncertain, which owner must act and what changes next.

Illustrative example; no invented client performance is implied.

Implementation worksheet#

ItemWorking record
ObjectiveBusiness outcome, responsible owner and time horizon
InputsApproved sources, their owners and freshness
AssumptionsHypotheses that still require verification
WorkSix stages, selected controls and expected artefacts
Decision AuthorityActions allowed and escalation requirements
EvidenceWhat demonstrates the work was done correctly
OutcomeWhat changed, what failed and what to review

The failure modes#

A common temptation is to complete all six stages with shallow evidence. That creates the appearance of maturity without proving that the business understands the situation. Another risk is automating a method whose inputs, obligations or decision rights were never defined. A reliable implementation should make the limits visible, accept a justified stop and retain a route for human correction.

How Dainin can support the method#

The related Dainin capabilities can connect the relevant sources, work and decisions where the current tenant is configured for the use case. The method should remain useful even when a step is performed manually. Explore the related capability and Academy application.
